Heart and shamrock shapes bear a universal message of love and good fortune. This time of year they suggest Valentine’s Day, which is just a couple weeks away and St. Patrick’s Day in March. But they work for other occasions, as well.
Both of these cards were created using the heart and shamrock shapes to convey a message without a lot of text. The greeting is cut out at the same time the top layer and pull tab are cut to shape. The second cutting consists of a red or green backing for the top layer and matching hearts and shamrocks. The small hearts and shamrocks are glued on the matching shapes in the center of the card and on the pull tab. The pull tab gives a place for a personal message.
The basic shape of this card can be easily modified for a vinyl message by simply cutting the shape without the greeting cutouts. Consider adapting the shamrocks into a graduation card and the thank you card into a Valentine card.
My 15” KNK Maxx makes it fun to create cards like this where accuracy is needed for shapes fitting on top of identical shapes. The link below contains the files for both cards which are cut from cardstock.
