The property that we own was at one time a farm. The only thing left of the old farmstead is the silo. 6 years ago, my husband built a barn, it is red, white and blue. Once the barn was up he often commented that it would be nice to have a windmill. This past month I found a great windmill at a great price in Shipshewana, Indiana. I bought it and it arrived in days. Some assembly required…the dreaded words. My husband is pretty handy, after all he built a barn, and the instructions said the windmill could be assembled in 2 hours. So many days later we have this
a 30 foot windmill laying on it’s side. It needs to get stood upright, cement footings poured to level and anchor it, and then we need to rent a lift to get to the top of the windmill and add the spinning thing. (Are you still following me?) Apparently you can’t put the spinning thing on prior to standing it up as it may bend the frame. After looking at the tail section for a week my husband suggested we add to it. It came with a red vinyl edge , as did each fin on the spinning part. Here it is covered with transfer tape.
He wanted it red, white and blue like the barn. So I added a white and blue stripe and then personalized it with our name and the year we married. Now I can’t wait until it is up and spinning.

Cool idea!! Be sure to post a pic when it’s up and running.
Wooow Nancy, What an AMAZING and HUGE project. Congratulations on it. The vinyl looks pretty nice and very nice adding the last name and wedding date to it.
Yes, share a picture when it finally gets up and running. How cool.
