Happy New Year

I made a Happy New Year Banner to welcome 2012!

Step 1:  I created the pleated backing of my banner using my Klic-N-Kut to design a rectangle 2 x 11″ with pointed tips spaced 1/2″apart along one of the 11″ sides.  Two of these pleated rectangles make one backing for each letter.

Step 2:  After scoring at 1/2″ increments I secured my pleated backing to small empty ribbon spools.

Step 3: I quickly made circles (printed paper) and rings (red cardstock) with my KNK to fit my sizing needs for the exposed side of the ribbon spools.

Step 4:  I chose a classic font (Bookman Old Style Bold) and adhered 3 layers of each letter on top of one another for dimension and then adhered these letters to the centers of the red cardstock rings.

Step 5: I used scraps to create a mechanism along the backside to house the Tulle that holds the banner together.

  2. Happy New Year Everyone! Thank you so much for your kind compliments. Isn’t this team great!!! Can’t wait to see all the Team KNK 2012 creations!

  3. Susan! Beautiful, but you always hear that, right? I like the use of the ribbon spools. Don’t want to throw anything away, do we? I like the way it gives it some dimensionality.
