Easter Egg Card and Tag

Hello fellow KnK-ers!

As we are well and truly into 2015 and looking forward to Spring, I thought I’d look to Easter for my project today. I designed a Card Cover which makes a simple but fun Easter Egg Card also if you like to give chocolate treats at Easter time, I made a matching Easter Egg Gift Tag. The cut files are available at the end of the post 🙂

These are the Materials I used:

These are the Zing Settings I used:

  • Blade = Standard
  • Blade Height = 25 post-it notes
  • Offset = 0.30
  • Speed = 10
  • Force =  80 paper/100 card
  • Passes = 1

I cut the front layer of my card from some white cardstock and the backing layer from some pink paper which I glued together. Once dry, I strategically added some 3d pads behind the Card Cover and popped onto my card base.

To assemble the Tag, simply glue all 3 layers together before adding some thread.

Valentine Card, Box and Tag

Hiyah fellow KnK-ers!

Today I’d like to share a matching Valentine set with you. Each element has the same heart design which is delicate enough for a female recipient but not too frilly for the men in our lives. There is a card, a pillow box for your sweet treats and a tag for any larger gifts. The cut files are available at the end of this post 🙂

Valentine Set 1

These are the Materials I used:

These are the Zing Settings I used:

  • Blade = Standard
  • Blade Height = 25 post-it notes
  • Offset = 0.30
  • Speed = 10
  • Force =  90
  • Passes = 1

Assembly: All 3 items are very simple to assemble, simply cut the larger pieces from white card and the detail pieces in red or pink, attach these to your larger pieces with some wet glue to give you some wiggle time for perfect alignment.

Valentine Set 2

You can add an insert to your card if you wish to prevent your message from showing through the front of your card.

Valentine Set 3

If your sweets are small and run the risk of falling through the holes in the front of your pillow box, try adding a piece of acetate or vellum behind the heart detail.

Heart Swing Card

Hello fellow KnK-ers!

After bringing you a Valentine’s Z-Fold card last year and a Valentine’s Suspension card the year before, I thought I’d continue with the kinetic card theme so this year I have a Swing card for you. This style of card has many names, you may know it as a Flip card or Flip-Flop card.

These are the Materials I used:

These are the Zing Settings I used:

  • Blade = Standard
  • Blade Height = 25 post-it notes
  • Offset = 0.30
  • Speed = 10
  • Force =  80 (110 for card base)
  • Passes = 1

Assembly:

Pic 1. Here are the elements found within your cut file:

Pic 2. Glue your heart shapes together and set aside to dry:

Pic 3. Adhere your patterned paper pieces around the front of your card base:

Pic 4. Your sentiment should be adhered to the front side of your card, it will become the back side of the heart when your card is closed:

Pic 5. Turn your card over and adhere your remaining heart piece:

Pic 6. Fold your card base along the perforations as shown below, the reverse of your heart now shows:

Pic 7. When your card is pulled open, the heart swings (or flips) around to reveal your sentiment:

1 Cut – 3 Cards

Hello fellow KnK-ers!

Do you ever look at the waste left behind after you’ve made your cut and thought it was too nice to throw away?

One simple step to make your waste more usable is to draw a square (or other shape) around the design you are about to cut to produce a frame effect from your waste material making it super easy to remove from your mat and use right away. How about taking this idea one step further and adding a shadow layer around your design to create a slightly different version of it?

This is exactly what I’ve done today, I’ve added an internal layer to my Bauble and an external layer to my Snowflake then drew a Square around the outside. This one 5 inch cut will give me enough elements for all 3 of these 6 inch cards!

Bauble Layers 3

These are the Materials I used:

These are the Zing Settings I used:

  • Blade = Standard
  • Blade Height = 25 post-it notes
  • Offset = 0.30
  • Speed = 10
  • Force =  120
  • Passes = 1

Pic 1. I cut my design from kraft cardstock at 5 inches, here’s how it looks straight from my Zing mat:

Pic 2. I separated out the different elements to make the most pleasing combinations:

Pic 3. Here are the 3 cards I made from the elements above along with some festive papers, a little twine and some pearls:

Who would think that you could get so much from just one 5 inch piece of card?

Multi-Section Shaker Card

Hi there fellow KnK-ers!

Usually shaker cards are squares or circles so that adding the foam tape walls will be as easy as possible, but what if we build up our walls with shapes cut from our KnK machines? We can have any shape of shaker card we like but we could also chose to have more than one cavity to fill with different shaker elements.

Here is a card I made for my Mum’s Birthday. I chose 3 different colours of sequins to match my patterned paper but the fun thing is, the sequins will never get mixed together as they are within their own section:

These are the Materials I used:

These are the Zing Settings I used:

  • Blade = Standard
  • Blade Height = 25 post-it notes
  • Offset = 0.30
  • Speed = 10
  • Force =  100
  • Passes = 1

Assembly:

Pic 1. Below are the pieces you will need to cut to complete your shaker card. You will need to cut your card base once, then cut the solid Mum/Mom piece once in acetate and once in your chosen patterned paper. You will also need to cut the Mum/Mom outline once in the same cardstock as your card base then cut it several times to build your shaker walls, I cut 9 of these for my card:

mum shaker 1

Pic 2. Glue your front outline onto your acetate piece and set it aside to dry. Next, adhere your other outline pieces one by one on top of your patterned piece using wet glue so you have a little wiggle time:

Pic 3. Fill each section with different coloured sequins, you could use glitter, small beads or confetti instead. The trick is not to add to much:

Pic 4. To seal your shaker sections, carefully add glue to the top of your shaker walls and pop your acetate panel into place:
